Chiropractic influences… Chiropractic treatment has been shown to influence T and B lymphocyte numbers, NK cell numbers, antibody levels, phagocytic activity, and plasma beta-endorphin levels. What is more, a focused study showed that when the thoracic spine (mid-back) was adjusted, there was a release of endorphins, and thus an enhancement of the immune system. The lowest part of the brain (“brain stem”), which is located just above the neck and connected to the spine, relays information between the brain and the body using bundles of long nerves. If your brain does not receive signals from the nerves (i.e. messengers), it cannot properly guide organ functions and reflexes. In addition to preforming tasks and transmitting messages relative in sustaining one’s life, the spinal cord has other valuable functions (e.g. Transfers signals from the spine to the brain, the spinal cord acts as a center for coordinating certain reflexes. As a conduit for motor information, which travels down the spinal cord, and as a conduit for sensory information in the reverse direction).
